What is a 5k?
A 5k ("five-K") race is a popular running event that everyone can enjoy from the casual runner/walker to the olympic athlete. The Farm Fresh 5k race at Shepherd's Corner is an all-terrain race that surveys the diverse landscape of Shepherd's Corner Ecology Center. Participants will run alonside naturally grown gardens, across meadow trails, and through wooded paths as they support the preservation of each of these landscapes!
What is Shepherd's Corner?
Shepherd's Corner is an ecological minisry supported by the Dominican Sisters of Peace that offers a wide array of agricultural, educational, and spiritual opportunities. This sanctuary is located within a 160-acre green space surrounded by suburban sprawl. In the midst of diminishing farmland and wilderness, Shepherd's Corner seeks to provide a place in which people of all backgrounds can reconnect with the natural environment, themselves, one another, and the Creator who made them all..
Who can run in the 5k?
EVERYONE!! The Filthy Farm 5k is a family-friendly event for runners and walkers of all ages and fitness levels. Come and see, and you might just surprise yourself. It's fun for everyone!
Can I bring my kids to the 5k?
Of course! In fact, kids 12 and under get in for a reduced rate (see our rates section). Children as young as three have enjoyed walking through our woods and farmland, and in past years several families have even pushed strollers through parts of the course. We pride ourselves on hosting a family-friendly event.
Where is Shepherd's Corner located?
Shepherd's Corner is located one mile North of Broad St. On N. Waggoner Rd in Blacklick, OH, on the east side of Columbus. The address is:

Driving Directions:
- Travel on Broad St. (Rt. 16) to N. Waggoner (3 miles east of I-270)
- Turn north on N. Waggoner Road (1 mile)
- Turn left into our driveway (across from Kennedy Rd.) We are the big white barn
What does the course look like?
Our race is ALL-TERRAIN--participants will race over meadow trails, alongside organic gardens, and through wooded paths. An approximation of the race course is shown below:
