Animal husbandry is one way in which Shepherd's Corner seeks to
re-establish man's connection to the land. Our chickens, turkeys, bees
, sheep and llama all serve multiple roles. Bees polinate and provide
honey, sheep provode manure and companionship, as does our llama, who
also guards against coyotes. Our chickens and turkeys also provide
manure while controlling insect populations and providing fresh eggs.
Although we do not slaughter our animals, they do provide an important educative function for those who think meat comes from a grocery store . School groups and young children especially enjoy visting our herds and flocks, as some (and some adults as well) may have never seen farm animals before.
