Mushrooms on a Log
On a vey muddy and sometimes rainy Saturday in late March, a few valiant folks
gathered for the Hands-on-Learning demonstration, "Mushrooms on a Log," given by
Adam Hoppe. Participants drilled holes into hardwood logs. Plugs already innoculated
with shitake mushrooms spores were inserted, and a wax sealant painted over the spore plugs.
In 4-10 months, the mushrooms will grow throughout the log, and begin producing fruit as in
the last picture in the gallery below.
