Volunteering continued...
Shepherd's Corner is a small corner of creation seeking to recreate the land's wholeness by rediscovering the life-giving harmony between the people and the land. Here, people of all backgrounds can learn to become reconnected with the natural environment, themselves, one another, and the Creator who made them all.

OTHER INFORMATION:
INDIVIDUALS who wish to be regular volunteers will need to complete our Volunteer Application. We will ask individuals for background screening since we often have minors present.
GROUPS need to have a leader to make arrangements for their volunteer experience, arrange for dates, times, tasks, tools (if any) and number and ages of participants. The group is responsible for transportation and supervision (if under 18) and assumes responsibility for liability, permissions, etc. for group members. Shepherd’s Corner staff provides direction for projects and usually tools and materials.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Shepherd’s Corner is primarily an outdoor environment and volunteers help all year round. Dress for the weather! Except for very severe conditions, we work in all sorts of weather. Expect to get dirty and to deal with whatever conditions the tasks may present—so wear sturdy shoes, old clothes, maybe a hat. Because we have poison ivy, insects, mud, sun and rain, long pants and sleeves are often a good idea. You won’t be asked to do jobs you aren’t suited for or which pose an unreasonable danger. Safety and care for people, animals, tools and the environment are important for all of us. Our staff will help insure that your volunteer experience is enjoyable and satisfying—we’d like to have you come back.

SIGN-IN: We keep a Volunteer Log for individuals and ask you to report your hours on your individual log sheet. This helps us with funding and lets us brag about how wonderful you are. Sometimes students have additional forms from schools and other groups that require verification and signatures by staff supervisors—these logs help us do that effectively.
