| Among the adults, talk turns to memories of their childhood experiences of nature, their delight that we have a place where kids can be fascinated by real live creatures. Adults share with us their hopes for the healing of the earth, the need for a sense of community among us and especially, they talk about the sense of peace and nearness to God that they feel here at Shepherd’s Corner. But the big draw, especially with the children, is meeting the animals. In the poultry yard and the sheep area where Fernando Llama guards his flock, you find the kids trying to pet and feed whatever animals are in reach. This is a real treat for the children and for the adults who watch and help. |
